President & CEO's Message

Strengthening the foundations of the community: our promise

Since the opening of the very first YMCA in North America in Montréal on November 25, 1851,  160 years ago, we have stayed true to our original mission which is to help all individuals achieve their full potential.

The rebranding of the YMCA, in collaboration with YMCA Canada, provides us with opportunity to reaffirm this promise today. This harmonization allows us to improve the public’s understanding of the scope of our community action, to expand our presence across the entire province and, we hope, to increase our capacity. It is this same objective that we are pursuing through our communications plan, which confirms as our priority the development and well-being of Québec’s youth. An evaluation of the impact of the YMCA on the lives of the youth who participate in our programs and activities will continue to help us offer and enrich our youth programs in accordance with their needs.

Each and every one of you - employees, volunteers, partners, donors, and members - plays an essential role in with The YMCAs of Québec and, as a result, in the success of our communities. We can take pride in a job well done over the course of the last 160 years and we look forward to another 160 years of working together to build stronger and healthier communities.
