The Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Y centre, which opened in October 1979, is well established in its community, serving primarily the boroughs of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rosemont-Petite-Patrie.

Recognized for its high-quality community initiatives and innovative international programs, the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Y centre works with social organizations in its community. The centre provides financial support to nearly half of its members. It offers a number of activities for youth, including homework help, aimed primarily at discouraging them from dropping out, instilling a desire for social commitment and promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

The Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Y centre boasts many different fitness facilities, including an arena, to encourage physical activity. Physical education develops many aspects of the personality and boosts self-esteem. Learning to become active protects health and brings with it renewed self-confidence and a more optimistic outlook.
The Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Y centre enjoys the outstanding support of more than 50 volunteers and many donors. More than 2,000 people use its programs and services every year.
