Each centre has its own Local Advisory Council (L.A.C.). That being said, exactly what is a L.A.C.? The role of the L.A.C. is to advise and make recommendations to the centre in order to assist with its functioning. Mainly, the L.A.C.:

• promotes the full and complete participation of member-partners in matters that are of particular interest to the centre;
• provides the Corporation with a volunteer decision-making body able to collaborate with the centre’s employees in fulfilling their mandate;
• provides the Corporation with a volunteer decision-making body able to ensure that the activities and services of the Corporation reflect the realties of the community it serves.

How does a L.A.C. work?
A centre’s Local Advisory Council must reflect the internal and external realities of the community it serves. Each L.A.C. must determine the number of member-partners required to ensure an even representation of members, users, and community representatives. To become a member of a L.A.C., one must be a member-partner of the Corporation. Moreover, each L.A.C. must meet at least every three months (a minimum of 4 times per year).
