The Fitness Instructor Training course is designed to offer nationally recognized certification in specific areas of physical
fitness. This program prepares participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and instruct fitness activities efficiently and safely.

Certification Criteria:

  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Completion of phases I, II and III.
  • Up-to-date certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R., level A). This course is offered at the YMCA.

PHASE I – Basic Theory

  • Theory course (anatomy, physiology, training principles...)
  • Total duration 33 hours (11 weeks)
  • Minimum grade of 80%

PHASE II – Applied Theory

  • Two specialties are available:
    1. Individual Conditioning (20 hours)
    2. Group Fitness (12 hours)
  • Minimum grade 80%

PHASE III – Practical

  • Two specialties are available:
    1. Individual Conditioning (24 hours, including 10 hour internship)
    2. Group Fitness
      1. Choreography based: Aerobics and Step (39 hours)
      2. Cycling (24 hours)
      3. Resistance Training (24 hours)
      4. Core Strength and Stretch (24 hours)
      5. Aquafitness (33 hours)
  • Practical exam by appointment
