Since July 2005, the Mise en Mouvement project has offered coaching for employment assistance recipients seeking to get back into the work force. Participants can attend a series of workshops to narrow down their job search, learn about the demands of the job market and prepare to look for work.
The program is funded by Emploi Québec. It is available in French and English.
The goal of the Mise en Mouvement project is to help employment assistance recipients referred by local employment centres make concrete progress in their quest to return to the job market.
Specifically, the program seeks to:
- Help participants conduct a personal assessment, focusing on skills that can be converted into a suitable, realistic job.
- Improve participants’ self-knowledge and self-confidence (interpersonal skills and know-how).
- Identify local resources that could support participants’ future endeavours.
- Identify the tools participants need to return to the job market.
- Help participants know more about the needs of the job market.
Workshops
Participants may attend 3 three-hour group workshops on the following topics:
Two workshops on self-evaluation
- Self-knowledge
- Resistance to change
- What looking for work means for me
- Motivation
- Personal assessment
One workshop on tools
- Tools for returning to the workforce
- Information on existing resources
- Effective job search techniques
- Demands of the market
- Information on the most sought-after jobs
Follow-up
The counsellor contacts the participant 3 to 5 weeks after the workshops for a follow-up. If the participant cannot be reached, the counsellor will try a second telephone contact 9 to 11 weeks later.
